Help bring water to Community Gardens!

Public Scoping Meetings:

NYC Parks GreenThumb is launching an initiative that will provide food producing community gardens under its jurisdiction a dependable and accessible water supply. A Water Supply Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) are being developed and are now open to formal comment.

Participate by attending one of the scoping meetings:

  • Brooklyn: Thursday, June 13 at the Herbert von King Cultural
    Arts Center, 670 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11216
    from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Manhattan: Friday, June 14 at the Hamilton Fish Recreation
    Center, 128 Pitt St, New York, NY 10002 from
    5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Bronx: Saturday, June 15 at the Kwame Ture Recreation
    Center, 1527 Jesup Ave, Bronx, NY 10452 from
    10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Each meeting will include a pre-recorded presentation in addition to an open house where attendees will have an opportunity to provide formal comments. Meeting end time is subject to volume of comments received. Presentations and information boards will be shared closer to the meeting dates on www.nycgovparks.org/greenthumb/water-supply-plan.

All comments received will be incorporated into the Environmental Impact Statement and considered in the evaluation of all three alternatives. The comment period for the scoping phase of this project will end on June 25, 2024. This is an ongoing project that will offer further opportunities to provide feedback following this phase.
