Where We Live NYC 2025 Public Engagement Period

NYC Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) is bringing the City’s fair housing plan, Where We Live NYC, to neighborhood libraries across all five boroughs this summer of 2024. Throughout August and September, branches of the Brooklyn Public Library, New York Public Library, and Queens Public Library will host sessions where residents can learn about their housing rights, share experiences, and access resources.

Fair housing means every New Yorker should have meaningful housing choices and an equal opportunity to rent or buy a home, regardless of race, immigration status, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics. Where We Live NYC was first released in 2020 with over 90% of its 81 commitments now completed or in progress. HPD is renewing its commitment to fighting segregation and advancing opportunity with an updated plan and new commitments as the Where We Live NYC 2025 plan takes shape.

The feedback from the library campaign will help shape these new commitments. The success of Where We Live depends on the participation of New Yorkers like you!
