Each year, the New York City Charter requires all 59 NYC Community Boards to submit recommendations for the City’s capital and expense budgets for the upcoming fiscal year. Community members are invited to take part by suggesting new City programs, services, or capital projects. Learn more about the city budget process.
Please note that capital projects generally cost $35,000 or more and have a useful life of at least five years. For requests about existing programs or regular City services, please contact the Community Board office. This includes requests about regular city services, such as street signs, building inspections, park maintenance, road repairs, tree pruning, and similar service issues.

CB14 must receive budget recommendations from the community by Friday, September 4, 2026, for them to be considered at Brooklyn Community Board 14’s public hearing on fiscal year 2028 community budget recommendations. This hearing will be held in person on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the East Midwood Jewish Center, 1625 Ocean Avenue. Any updates will be posted on our meeting calendar.
