New York City has not produced enough housing to keep up with the rapid population and job growth that our city has experienced in recent decades. As a result, more than half of New York City’s renters spend over a third of their income on rent, homeownership is increasingly out of reach, working New Yorkers face long commutes, and displacement pressure is stronger. The City of Yes for Housing Opportunity initiative is designed to address New York’s housing crisis by building a little more housing in every neighborhood.

The Department of City Planning is holding monthly public information sessions on components of the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity proposal, highlighting how they will benefit New Yorkers and address the city’s housing crisis.
