This event will kick off the open street season on Newkirk Avenue from Coney Island Avenue to East 17th Street.

Come for free services like e-waste, paper shredding, clothing/textile recycling and a Cinco de Mayo celebration!

Schedule:

• 1616 Newkirk Avenue:
  • 12 – 4 PM: Pick up cleaning supplies for street cleaning, e-waste recycling, textile recycling and paper shredding in front of FDC’s office at 1616 Newkirk Avenue
  • 4 PM: Mariachi Band and Folklorico Dancers start performing
• Newkirk Avenue between Marlborough and Rugby Rds.:
  • Viva Arts: Studio arts and crafts, face painting (exact time TBD)
• Newkirk Avenue between Argyle and Rugby Road:
  • 5 PM: Mariachi band and Folklorico Dancers finish their march and performance
  • Piñata game!
• Cortelyou Road:
  • 12 PM: Poljan Properties (1207 Cortelyou Road) – Join the street clean team with Beautify Brooklyn for a litter parade! Help clean the streets while listening to music on your way down to Newkirk Avenue. Free wildflower seed giveaway!
  • 12 – 4 PM: Flatbush Food Coop (1415 Cortelyou Road) – Free giveaways!
