Protect Your Future and Health – Estate Planning Information and Consultation
Are you a New York City resident aged 50 and up with annual income (from government assistance, retirement benefits, or salary) of less than $100,000.00? Do you need help drafting a will, power of attorney or healthcare proxy? If so, complete this pre-screening questionnaire* by OCTOBER 1, 2024 to see if you qualify for FREE estate planning.
The New York City Council Speaker, Adrienne Adams, is collaborating with local law schools and pro bono attorneys to offer free estate planning information and consultations. This program also provides the possibility of having essential estate planning documents—such as a last will and testament, power of attorney, and/or healthcare proxy—prepared free of charge for qualified participants. These documents ensure that your healthcare and property wishes are honored when you are unable to speak for yourself.
If you qualify, you will schedule a meeting with a supervised student attorney or pro bono attorney on an intake day to discuss your needs. They will guide you through your free consultation, and if it is determined that estate planning documents will benefit you, they will prepare these documents for you at no cost.
In-person intake days for qualified participants will be held on:
Brooklyn:
111 Livingston Street,
21st Floor
Wednesday, October 9
Noon – 8pm
* On the questionnaire, you will be asked to provide the approximate amount of your monthly income as well as the approximate value of your assets. These
questions are simply used to determine eligibility in this program.
