Brooklyn Workforce1 Employment Works supports individuals who have engaged with the criminal justice system by providing tailored services at both our Bronx and Brooklyn Workforce1 Career Centers. Services include job/interview coaching, career exploration, résumé review, referrals for professional attire and benefits, direct referrals to job interviews, resources to seal conviction records, post-placement follow-up to promote retention and growth, career advisement, preparation workshops, and more. These services help candidates succeed beyond barriers to work that are common for individuals with a criminal justice history.

Adults 18 and older can earn their high school diploma through free GED classes at COJO Flatbush. The program offers flexible scheduling with morning, evening, and Sunday classes; small class sizes; and supportive instructors. A Regents credit transfer option is available for those who qualify. All learning materials, including books and practice tests, are provided at no cost. Participants will also receive guidance on workforce and college readiness, job preparation, and college applications. Whether you're aiming for a better job or fulfilling a personal goal, this program helps adult learners succeed in a welcoming environment. A pre-assessment is required prior to enrollment.

NYC OEM invites high school students to apply this free summer program for women and non-binary youth ages 16–22 who are interested in emergency management and leadership. Held July 14–18, 2025, at NYCEM’s Brooklyn headquarters, the program features workshops, simulations, field trips, and mentorship. Selected participants may also join monthly “aftermath” sessions after the main program. HERricane NYC is inclusive of cisgender and transgender women and non-binary people. There is no cost to participate. Applicants must submit the required forms by June 20 and will be notified within two weeks of the deadline. Download the application for full details.
