About the program:
This training is a LaGuardia Community College, Adult and Continuing Education Project. The purpose of a Community Health Worker is to help members of the community manage health problems and live healthier lives.
The Community Health Training Program includes:
Classes begin March 4, 2024
- 6 Months Community Health Worker Training
- 125-hour paid internship at a healthcare agency
- Healthcare Career counseling, job search and employment referral support
- An industry recognized Certificate from LaGuardia Community College
- The opportunity to earn 9 college credits if you continue your healthcare education with LaGuardia Community College
Program Requirements:
- Be 18 years or older
- Classes will be taught in English, you must be fluent in English
- Be a New York City resident and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Have a High School diploma or equivalent
- Be available to study a minimum of 16 hours per week evenings and weekends and complete 125 hour internship
- Have access to computer or laptop
