About the program:

This training is a LaGuardia Community College, Adult and Continuing Education Project. The purpose of a Community Health Worker is to help members of the community manage health problems and live healthier lives.

The Community Health Training Program includes:

Classes begin March 4, 2024

  • 6 Months Community Health Worker Training
  • 125-hour paid internship at a healthcare agency
  • Healthcare Career counseling, job search and employment referral support
  • An industry recognized Certificate from LaGuardia Community College
  • The opportunity to earn 9 college credits if you continue your healthcare education with LaGuardia Community College

Program Requirements:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Classes will be taught in English, you must be fluent in English
  • Be a New York City resident and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Be available to study a minimum of 16 hours per week evenings and weekends and complete 125 hour internship
  • Have access to computer or laptop
