Congestion Relief Toll in Manhattan Begins June 30: Informational Webinars Announced (POSTPONED)

Starting June 30, 2024, vehicles entering the Congestion Relief Zone (local streets and avenues at or below 60 Street in Manhattan) will be charged a toll as part of a new congestion pricing program. Make sure you’re ready for the toll before it’s implemented:

The MTA is hosting public webinars during June where people can learn about Congestion Relief Zone tolling. Webinars will explain why New York needs congestion pricing, how the Congestion Relief Zone works, what the toll rates are, who is entitled to discounts and exemptions, and other things people need to know before tolling begins on Sunday, June 30. The 60-minute webinars will feature a 30-minute presentation, followed by Q&A. For dates, times and how to sign up for these webinars, visit this page: new.mta.info/article/sign-congestion-relief-zone-tolling-webinars

What’s Happening
  • Starting June 30, 2024, vehicles entering the Congestion Relief Zone in Manhattan—local streets and avenues at or below 60th Street—will be charged a toll.
  • The toll amount will depend on the type of vehicle, time of day, whether any crossing credits apply, and the method of payment. For example, passenger vehicles with E-ZPass will be charged $15 in the peak period and $3.75 overnight, once daily.
  • If you don’t have E-Z Pass, a Tolls by Mail bill will be sent by mail to the registered owner of the vehicle. Tolls by Mail are more expensive.
  • Visit MTA’s website for details on toll rates, discounts and exemptions, and more.
How Can You Prepare?
  • Make sure your E-ZPass is up to date. If your vehicle’s license plate doesn’t match what’s on your E-ZPass account, you’ll receive a Toll by Mail, which is both less convenient and more expensive.
  • If you don’t have an E-ZPass, you can sign up here: www.e-zpassny.com
  • Special plans exist for low-income drivers and people with disabilities. Find out if you’re eligible for a discount or an exemption: mta.info/discounts
